IMPORTANT: Not following these pre-care steps may affect your final results.  

Cold Sores:
If you’ve ever had a cold sore or blister, you must take antiviral medication before your appointment (the treatment will trigger an outbreak):

• Chronic: Start 1 week prior.
• Moderate: Start 3 days prior.
  Continue taking it until fully healed. Contact your doctor or dentist for a prescription. No exceptions.

1 Month Before:

• Avoid fillers or injections in the lips or chin.
• If you're taking any medications, inform your practitioner in advance.

1 Week Before:

• Start moisturising your lips! If your lips are too dry or flaky, we may not be able to go ahead with your treatment.

48 Hours Before:

• Avoid lack of sleep, blood thinners like aspirin, ibuprofen, caffeine (coffee/tea), smoking, alcohol, boba, Niacin, vitamin E, Advil, and fish oil.
• Exfoliate your lips with a damp towel after a shower and moisturize with Aquaphor. (Alternatives: Eucerin Aquaphor, Vaseline, Cetraben, Bepanthen) 

On the Day:

• Don't wear any pigmented lip products. Clear lip balm only - and be generous with it!

Menstrual Cycle:
You may feel more sensitive during your appointment if on your cycle due to hormonal changes.

Skin Conditions:
If you have a skin condition like eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis around the lip area you must provide a doctor’s approval letter before the procedure.

First 24 Hours:

• Avoid touching or picking your lips to prevent infection and minimize scabbing.
• Do not forcibly remove peeling skin, let it shed naturally.
• Do not eat or drink for at least 5 hours post-appointment.

Cleaning and Moisturizing:

• After 24 hours, gently clean the treated area with mild, fragrance-free soap and warm water, then pat dry with a clean towel.
• Apply a thin layer of the recommended ointment several times a day for 10 days using a clean cotton swab or finger. Avoid rubbing—dab gently.

Foods and Drinks:

• Avoid spicy, oily, acidic, or greasy foods, as well as hot beverages, for a few days to prevent irritation.
• Use a straw when drinking liquids. Avoid tap water, and rinse your mouth with antiseptic mouthwash 4 times a day until healing is complete.

Skin Care:

• Once shedding begins, do not pick, peel, or pull the skin. Let it heal naturally.
• Avoid using soaps, chemicals, or saline water on your lips. Use a washcloth when washing your face to control liquids.
• Apply ointment before brushing teeth and use a minimal amount of non-whitening toothpaste.

Sun and Heat Exposure:

• Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds for at least 7 days. New skin is prone to sunburn, which can change the color or cause scarring.

Physical Activity:

• Avoid exercise and sweating for at least 24 hours, as sweat can cause infection and fade the color.

Other Restrictions:

• Do not smoke, kiss, or apply makeup on your lips for at least 7 days.
• Only use clean and new makeup products on the lips once healing is complete.

General Tips:

• Keep your lips hydrated with lip balm and drink plenty of water to promote healing.
• Avoid stretching your lips or taking large bites while eating.
• Always keep your hands clean and avoid touching your lips until fully healed.
